Naming

If the style names look a bit odd, it’s because they are all Northumbrian Saints dating from the 7th and 8th centuries.  Why Northumbrian Saints, you may well ask?  Quite simply, it’s an area of the country that we like and why not!

Woods

The pictures on this page and in my gallery are just examples.  All the styles are available in any wood, assuming I can get it.

Refills etc.

Refills for all pens and pencils are readily available in most good stationers.

  • Fountain pens come with reservoir and standard cartridge (interchangeable).
  • Rollerballs take standard Schmidt 888 ceramic refills
  • Ballpoints take either Cross or Parker type of refill (noted below)
  • Pencils leads vary in diameter with style – see below
  • Ballpoints and rollerballs have black ink; fountains have a blue cartridge.

Styles and Availability

The following shows the formats and finishes available in each style.  Please note that the style refers to the mechanism used and within each style the shape of the finished pen may vary slightly.  This is particularly noticeable on the slim (Balin style) pens, where I sometimes add a slight bulb to give a thicker grip.
